Fonzy is a 27-year-old Appaloosa gelding. I bought Fonzy from a private seller on Facebook who had purchased him at an auction. He was said to have been a trail horse for a Girl Scout camp in his previous life. When I first got him, he was skin and bones, and it took a year to help him regain all his weight. Fonzy touched my heart and inspired me to assist other horse owners with the challenges I faced when I first started owning a horse, such as how to care for them, where to find training and lessons, and when to call a veterinarian. My journey with Fonzy ignited a newfound passion for rehabilitating horses.

Fonzy is the sweetest horse you will ever meet. He helped me build my confidence in riding, and I will forever name my farm after him, as he changed my life in so many ways.

In January 2025, we became a nonprofit corporation and are currently awaiting our 501(c)(3) status. Our quarantine program will help fund our sanctuary and care for rescued animals. In the coming months, we will be adding an animal education program to educate the community about proper animal care, first aid, and much more. We are excited to support our community through these initiatives.

My name is Melissa. I bought Fonzy's Farm in 2022 with the intention of acquiring more horses, helping rescue animals, and starting a small farm. Wow, has it grown! We started with just a home and a carport, and now we have two loafing sheds, an arena, a round pen, an RV guest area, and many wonderful friends we have met along the way.

I am a social worker and have worked in healthcare since 2009. However, I became quite burned out and decided to transition to the billing side of things to refocus. It was during this time that I chose to sell most of my belongings and move back home to Texas from Colorado. My dream was always to own horses and land, and I am now living that dream. I hope to inspire others to always follow their hearts and pursue their dreams!
